BOTCH at Ground Zero, September 1998.
By Dave Larson.
The script for THE EDGE OF QUARREL called for three shows. One each from TRIAL, THE MURDER CITY DEVILS, and BOTCH. I was lucky enough to be writing and filming the movie at a time when including these specific shows was both possible and plausible. In each instance I was able to capture excellent performances, but what I was able to get from BOTCH was far more than I had hoped.
I used only a small amount of the footage in the movie. Recently, while going through the various piles of garbage and treasure left over from my life, I found the shoe box containing the original Hi-8 video cassettes that I filmed on. The tapes containing those three shows were there, just waiting for me to transfer them over to a digital format. So I started with BOTCH.
I do not yet know how good the footage of TRIAL and THE MURDER CITY DEVILS will look and sound, but reliving every minute of this mid-era BOTCH show left me with a sore face from smiling and a sore neck from head banging in my headphones.
So let that be a warning: Don’t hurt yourself watching this.
